Puerto del RosarioThe city, with a population of around 40,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the island of Fuerteventura and is a point of reference in terms of its proximity to the administration, commerce, culture and leisure. It is also home to the main infrastructures of the island.
Its Sculpture Park has more than 150 works of art, and the Walls and Alleyways Route, together with the House of Culture, the Juan Ismael Art Centre, the Unamuno House Museum, the pedestrianised Primero de Mayo Street and the Church, make of Puerto del Rosario a city of great cultural importance, which exhibits its works of art in a way that is accessible to any citizen, occasional visitor or tourist.
It is also possible to stroll through its open-air shopping areas or along the Avenida Marítima, where there are several destinations: the solarium, the municipal beach of Los Pozos, the Hornos de Cal and, to top it all off, the Playa Blanca, a beautiful 800-metre beach of golden sand with the Blue Flag distinction, as well as the Playa de Puerto Lajas, to the north of the capital.
