This short route through the Jandía Natural Park starts in El Puertito, a small fishing village surrounded by jable or yellow sand located on the south coast of Fuerteventura. This is a completely sustainable landscape, far from the large coastal developments, from which we will head westwards along the coast, which is generally made up of cliffs of varying heights with few sandy accumulations, such as Playa de Ojos. Once we reach the area known as Llano del Cotillo we will head north, crossing a sandy area, to Las Atalayejas (also known as Las Talahijas). We will pass Caleta de la Madera, where we will find an impressive cliff that has withstood the erosive action of the sea for millions of years. There is a small solitary rock that still withstands the onslaught of the raging Atlantic Ocean. We will continue on to the Caleta de Agua Cabras cove, which offers splendid views of the Cofete arch, and we will even see El Jable, an area covered by yellow sand formed mainly by particles of marine organisms. We will then descend through Degollada de Agua Cabras, where a small community of tarajales stands out. We will continue eastwards through an arid landscape with scarce vegetation, dominated by thickets of gorse (Launaea arborescens) and savoury (salsola-Suaeda spp.). In the middle of this natural landscape we can see, among the various mountains, the Montaña Azufrá, a trachytic piton which we can distinguish by its characteristic greyish colour. Descending towards sea level we reach Las Salinas. At this point, our path joins the last stage of the GR-131 Morro Jable-Punta de Jandía, and next to it, it will reach El Puertito again.
