Section 3
La Oliva - Tefía
This stage begins in La Oliva, specifically in the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. We start off towards Calle Orilla and turn left into Calle La Nobleza, which we will cross until we reach a crossroads where we will find a service station. After crossing the local road, we will take the first street on the right until the end of the street, where we will see numerous henequen plantations (Agave tourcroydes). Once here, turn left and gradually move away from the urban area of La Oliva to take a dirt track that crosses an agricultural area that is currently in disuse. We follow the course of the Barranco de la Montaña La Oliva ravine, which brings us close to the Montaña Sagrada de Tindaya, whose sculpted shape and colouring, sculpted by the passage of time, makes it stand out in the middle of the plain on which it rises. We will border it from the west and there is the possibility of climbing a path to the top, for which we will need a special permit from the Fuerteventura Cabildo (Island Council). Our stage continues towards the village of Tindaya. To reach this village, take the Virgen de La Caridad street, which will take you to the Ermita de Tindaya hermitage, from where the PR-FV 9 Tindaya - Vallebrón - Tefía starts. From here, our path crosses the village, without turning off, until we reach the Casa Alta. The path now heads south along a dirt track that takes us towards the Quemada mountain, on the slope of which stands the white figure of Miguel de Unamuno. The path continues, leaving El Santo Lirio to the left, to reach the Barranco del Risco ravine, where we cross the local road FV-207. Walk eastwards for a kilometre and turn right to reach the Casa del Cordobés, where stage 3 meets the PR-FV 9 again and continues southwards, between Tablero de la Avutarda and Rincón de la Hija, to the village of Tefía. We enter the village at a crossroads where we turn left. Then take the second road on the left, which will take you to the Ermita de San Agustín, where our stage ends.
