Section 2
Corralejo - La Oliva
The second stage of the GR-131 starts in the town centre of Corralejo. We start from the Plaza Patricio Calero along the street "La Milagrosa" and turn right to go up the street Lepanto until we reach the avenue Juan Carlos I, turn left and walk along this avenue until we reach a roundabout with a sculpture of a boat with a sail representing different sports. Our path continues along the first exit and after a few metres we take the second street on the right until we reach a municipal water tank. If we look back we will be surprised by the proximity of the neighbouring island of Lanzarote and we will see the island of Lobos, an islet dwarfed by the Atlantic Ocean that accentuates its beauty. We will walk through the badlands, a product of the eruptions produced approximately 185,000 years ago by the Bayuyo chain of volcanoes. We will border this volcanic alignment until we reach the foot of the Caldera Rebanada, where our stage coincides with the SL-FV 2 Lajares - Calderón Hondo. We continue along a gentle path that goes around the Caldera Rebanada and leads us along Calle Juanita to the village of Lajares. At the crossroads of Los Cascajos and Majanicho streets, our path coincides again with the SL-FV 2 and goes together until the football field of Lajares, where the SL-FV 2 ends and our stage continues.
We will cross the local road to enter Los Quemados street, which we will follow until the end to turn left. We will leave behind the last houses to enter a landscape that stands out for its volcanic nature. We will advance along the Tejate slopes towards the Malpaís de la Arena Natural Monument, which is practically covered by lichen. We will then cross the badlands to enter the town centre of La Oliva, specifically along Calle Las Navajas until we reach a crossroads.
On our right, we will find the Casa del Inglés, an example of an 18th century house of the island's rural bourgeoisie. Finally, we turn right to take the local road FV-10, which will lead us to the Plaza de la iglesia de La Oliva, where this stage ends.
