13. El Puertito (Islote de Lobos)
The Islet of LobosThe island, with an area of almost five square kilometres, is one of Fuerteventura's best-kept treasures, a real jewel of nature separated from the coast of Fuerteventura by two kilometres of Atlantic Ocean.
El Río, as it is known, is the part of the sea that separates the two islands and has a depth of less than ten metres. It is one of the areas of Fuerteventura with the greatest wealth of underwater life.
It is reached by one of the official ferry boats that make the journey to Corralejo several times a day, and it is necessary to request prior permission to visit the islet as it is, in its entirety, a protected Natural Park inhabited by hundreds of plant and animal species.
